All the world's a stage
And all the men and women are merely players
They have their exits and entrances
And one man in his time plays many parts

LOVE SONG FOR A SAVIOUR
He's more than the laughter
Or the stars in the heavens
As close as a heartbeat
or a song on her lips
Someday she'll trust Him
Learn how to see Him
Someday He'll call her
And she will come running
Fall in His arms
The tears will fall down and she'll pray
I want to fall in love with you
omg. Just blog surfed and read a couple of my engineering friends' blogs. Theyre all lamenting about studying, being tired from studying, gpa and counting down to the exams.
Whereas I on the other hand, have yet to start studying proper. CS curriculum is such that we STILL have to work on projects/reports/presentations 2 weeks shy of the exams. This weekend, 3 written reports demand my attention. One of which is a 40pg group report, the other, a 12 page individual report which i have yet to touch. The 3rd is a group report too, but ive to compile everything. i definitely had more time to study last sem. Shouldve made use of that time to pull up my gpa, but i was too distracted by many things. i guess im more focused this sem, but now even if i want to study early, i dont have the time. This sem, we have more demanding modules (103,105) and ive one additional subject, finance, in which half my tutorial class consists of china scholars. The average's gonna be frickin high.
i dont mean to rant, but i just had to let this all out. After the disappointing revelation that gpa is a deciding factor in many things, even if its not explicitely stated (elaine, you'll know what im talking about), i promised myself that i wont let something slip out of my grasp so easily again. Creativity and originality of idea often give way to statistical merit in Singapore's rigid academia. Next sem theres application for exchange program, which is based on first year grades, and i want to do more than just meet the minimum requirement.
I hope this sudden force of motivation is not ephemeral, but will translate into some form of action.
This clip shows the final scene in the movie Chariots of Fire. The film is based on the true story of British athletes preparing and competing in the 1924 Olympics. It specifically highlights the life of athlete Eric Liddell.
Eric Liddell was a 100m sprinter. He was also a Christian, who's life was centered on God. He and his sister were called to China to be missionaries, but before that, he was a professional athlete, and God blessed him with a talent in running to bring glory to him. Liddell was quoted saying ""I believe that God made me for a purpose... (the mission), but He also made me fast, and when I run, I feel His pleasure."
As the clip shows, Liddell represented Britain in the 400m event, not his speciality, the 100m sprint. Why was that? The story behind this was that Liddell was initially scheduled to compete in the 100m finals. However, the event fell on a Sunday. Despite immense pressure from the Prince of Wales ( who personally scheduled a meeting with him) and the British Olympic Committee, he refused to compete, as it compromised his Christian convictions. He wanted to honor God on the sabbath. He did this, despite the high probability that he would be barred from the Olympics altogether. However, at the last minute, he was assigned to run the 400m, an event he hardly ran. A totally different event from what he was accustomed to.
God divinely appointed someone to send him a note just before the race. The amazing thing is that that person was his opponent from the American team, Jackson Short. The note said "As it says in the book 'He that honors me, I will honor'"
This film really reminded me that God will honor his servants. i want to live my life and use all that he has given me for his glory! Not so much for honor, but out of love for Him.
Psalm 20:7" Some trust in Chariots, some trust in horses, but we trust the name of Yahweh our God."
Col 3:17" Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." reina ♥
